Martellato, based in Vigonza (PD), designs, manufactures and distributes items to meet the needs of experts in the pastry, ice cream and ho.re.ca. sectors. The company was founded in the 1980s from an intuition of its founder who was looking for solutions to the problems of pastry professionals.
The Martellato vision is to become an ambassador company for Made in Italy, with products that best express the excellence of master artisans.

The training project “competencies in the evolving organization” was born from the need of the new company management to put people at the center, developing and training the skills of Martellato employees with respect to their role in the team and the organization.
The course was structured with two focus groups, one dedicated to the skills underlying leadership for managers and one for teams with the aim of increasing the skills to be part of the team strengthen the spirit of group and belonging.
Following a generational change, in early 2024 the new management expressed a desire to imprint an organization that best represented the company values and their people. Work was done on a project that could embrace the entire organization, identifying the development needs that characterize the organization and the people involved.
The first group, identified as the first managerial line, involved people who had grown up in the company, with excellent technical skills who were asked to enhance their managerial skills. The second group, consisting of 21 employees accustomed to working individually by tasks, faced a development path oriented toward being part of the team and the organization, harmonizing relationships both horizontally and vertically.
Managers
The course, structured over 6 months, developed with moments of learning, confrontation, awareness and coaching, touching on skills related to being a leader and learning how different leadership styles can help deal with situations and people with different needs from each other.
The activities involved managers challenging themselves with tests and exercises on “to be,” confronting each other through team coaching dynamics, role play and small technique to set themselves against the goal.
Employees
The course involved employees from different functions working together to raise awareness of the person in the organization and how the sum of them can build a team.
Skills such as effective communication, creative problem solving and mindset were the basis of learning activities, role paly and experiential games that led people to measure themselves against others by finding their space in the group.
The project, which is still ongoing, will take the resources involved to a second level of development. In fact, in 2025 it is planned to merge the two paths, accompanying the integration of skills acquired by teams to managers and vice versa. Management training will allow resources to experience the following by experiencing being part of a team in the organization, in a dynamic and playful environment.At the end of the group activities, a further step by aggregating managers to the new management will lead to the development of further self-awareness in the organization, harmonizing the relationship between managers and management, with respect to the strategic and business goals that Martellato wants to pursue and achieve in the near future.
Seeing how a historic company evolves, changes and looks to the future is not easy when you are fully involved in day-to-day activities. Being able to take moments to stop and become aware of one’s being, the role with its responsibilities, and to be able to visualize how the individual and the group can lead the company into the future must not be a luxury for a few but an opportunity for all.
